Mark Anzalone (continued): On returning to Austin, I started looking for a new job. I also started on some other home renovation projects. I had the outside of the house resided.  While that was being done, I opted to take advantage of my free time and the open walls and rewire the house for phone, network, and cable. Also, while the guys were working on the siding, I put in new, insulated windows. I then removed the old, deteriorated insulation in the attic and put in new insulation (thank god it was winter and cold up there). I then installed interior trim around the windows. Then, I converted an unused patio into a home office--drywall work is a royal pain!  Now, I am working on landscaping.

Then, in the middle of all that work, I have continued a job search. I am at the point that I really need to find a job. One, I am tired and need a job so that I can relax.  Two, I am running out of projects. Having an income again would be nice as well. Oh, and if all that was not enough, the day after Thanksgiving, I found out the painful way, that I have kidney stones. Unfortunately, the one was so big that it would not pass, so a week later, I had to have it removed. I am told that there is still at least one in each kidney, but I am hoping that they just stay where they are.

I do manage to have a personal life in addition to all that. That was one of the reasons for returning to Austin. I missed all my friends here. Some of them have been very close friends for almost 20 years. It is difficult to find new friends like that, and easier to move to stay around them. My cat, Amy, has been a trouper through all the moves and construction and all.  In March, she will turn ten years old.  I am still single, but have started seeing someone recently. All in all, I have a wonderful family and wonderful friends, and so I am content. So, for my near term goal, I continue my job search. Anyone want to hire a Software Quality Assurance guru?
